Check out this movie of Gibbons entertaining the crowd at the Western Plains Zoo
Coonabarabran Gumnut Guides & two of our local Lone Guides joined the Orana Region for a fabulous weekend at the Western Plains Zoo. The weekend is a culmination of the annual fund raising by regional Guides for the Mallee Fowl breeding program.
Saturday saw Guides from across the region walking and bike riding around the zoo on a treasure hunt for information and all round great fun. As always the animals were great entertainment – especially the Gibbons who always put on a show, patting the echidna and even a possum Rose discovered hiding in the roof of one of the toilets.
Rose Betts, a wonderful young leader, lead the Coonabarabran girls on bike with great talks and questions at each stop. Bilby was in the back up vehicle with the bike tyre pump and for picking up the younger girls who got tired along the way. Vivian & Jasmine followed the team riding their tandem bike to make sure all stuck together.
The girls flew on the flying fox before gathering at the kiosk to head off to the Dubbo hall for dinner, campfires and a fun night in their swags. More on Sunday’s activities next week.
